| Our Mission |

|
|
|
Listening Hearts, a nonprofit corporation, is a self-help gathering of bereaved mothers from all walks of life. It does not matter the age of the child or the cause of death. Nor does it matter the length of time since the child's death.
Listening Hearts conducts discussion groups, forums, panels, lectures or similar programs where bereaved mothers can come together to share.
Grief should not be carried alone.

Listening to hear Your words of Grace and Peace,
Listening to hear the needs of one another, the cries of the heart, Listening to hear words of Love and Hope from Heaven above...
And grant us wisdom to proceed...

| Bereaved Moms |

The Listening Hearts group comes from the heart of Debra Reagan because there seems to be a real need... She had the idea and burden to help other Moms, no one should travel this journey alone... She talked to me, Katie, about it and I loved the idea... but Debra was the driving force, and used her leadership qualities to "git-er-done"... (while I may be the git-er-done one, Kate is the heart of the group. --Debra) and its been a true blessing to us all already... Its just refreshing, to go and spend time with people who "understand"....everyone in the group agreed they wanted to continue our meetings in the future.
We were looking for a name for our group... we knew one would just hit us and be it... well, it finally did... it came from a little ornament purchased at Hobby Lobby... Listening Hearts... We listen to one another, and we listen for little messages from our children gone before... we watch for butterflies, dimes and pennies, dots in balloons, messages in the sand, rocks with flowers laid on them... anything that might be a Howdy from heaven... :-) It may sound silly to you, but not to us... |

| May 3rd... our first gathering... |

|
The first gathering of the mothers, (the group was still nameless then, and we were joining together for Mother's Day with no specific plans)....was held on Saturday May 3rd... We met for lunch, brought pictures and momentos of our children, and talked... I think we all hit it off pretty well, from the get-go... For we had found some other Mom's who understood...
There were eight Mom's and one little sister in attendance...
Debra, Katie, Janice, Pam J., Pam W., Scarlett, Ruby, and Karen were the Mom's, Shundra the little sister...
Most of us had never met before... just met on the internet, or met at the cemetery... but we were pulled together by compassion... |

| Second Meeting |

|
Our second meeting was ...... another beautiful time... we shared and talked and ate together... The meeting was planned to last two hours, but we lingered for three and a half...
Encouraging each other, and helping each other try to make sense out of things...
Some of us have met for lunch at other times... Friendships are growing... :-) The need to share this journey continues... |

| Our 3rd Meeting |

On Saturday, October 4th, we had our third meeting...but, our first official meeting as a non-profit corporation....
And a Real Nice Time it was....
Debra had brought us a each a gift of a book called "Children of the Dome"... a very good book...
We discussed our plans for the future... Ate LOTS of good food... Soups and sandwiches and yummy deserts...
We also learned a little about Scrapbooking, and online Scrapbooking, from a Creative Memories Representative...
We shared, encouraged one another, and left blessed... :-) Some comments were shared on how much the group has helped in the healing process. |

| Memorial Stepping Stones |

Kate did an amazing job guiding us along as we made memorial stepping stones to honor the memory of our children. She made the whole process easy so we were able to create beautiful and lasting art from our memories.
Thank you Kate!!!! We know you do this in honor of your love for Gabe. |

| 2009 Schedule of Meetings |

All of the 2009 meetings are scheduled to be held at the Baptist Eye Institute conference room located at 2020 Kay Street, across from the Baptist Hospital. The time of the each meeting will be 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

We are so sorry there is a need for this group, but we hope all bereaved moms will join us, because no one should travel this journey alone.
